Festivities With Flowers | 5-part Poster Series

Festivities With Flowers is a five-part poster series highlighting flowers that are used in festivals, rituals, or weddings in specific countries in Asia.

Project Overview

I wanted to shine light on the different kinds of flowers used throughout parts of Asia in an illustrative way. I decided to create a five-part poster series to celebrate these flowers and what they mean or represent.

Each poster shines light on flowers and its use in the tradition. Flowers play an important role within ceremonies. There is a strong focus on the visuals of the poster, consisted of the flowers as well as motifs. All posters were digitally created and the illustrations were digitally drawn using Procreate.

The flowers are the central focus of the posters, however there are subtle cultural motifs and patterns in the backgrounds (paisley, mandala, etc.) according to its origin.

Design Process

Created a moodboard full of inspiration and layouts I wanted to derive ideas from.

Conducted research on flowers and began on first drafts.

This is what my linework looked like after my initial sketch. I worked on creating precise lines and finalizing my layout. At this stage, I also tweaked elements.

The final stage consists of full color, shading, and any refined details.

I began with creating loose sketches. In this stage I included color and elements wherever I envisioned them.
